On Monday 1st June, Year 6 set off on their 5 day residential to the Isle of Wight.  Today we went to the historic dockyard in Portsmouth and climbed om board HMS Victory!  We settled ourselves in the hotel and then went to The Glory Art Glass Studio where we had a glass blowing demonstration.  A few brave souls went for a brief dip in the sea before we headed back for showers and storytime.  We've had lots of compliments for good behaviour and super questions today, so hopefully this will continue all week.

Day Two:

We set off to Alum Bay where we had a sweet demo and visited the sand shop.  Unfortunately, due to high winds, the cable car and boat ride at the Needles were not operating, but all was not lost: we went to the 4D cinema instead! After a glimpse through the cloud at The Needles, we took the coastal route back to hotel, had dinner and got ready for an evening in the sea!  It was still too windy for surfing and kayaking, but we were able to body board which was great fun.  Everyone has had a great day and the children are rosy cheeked and nearly ready for bed!

Day Three:

Hurrah! It has been sunny and warm all day!  yes

We had a delicious breakfast and went to Ryde for our tree climbing activity.  We split into three groups and while each group climbed, the others played in the park and went to the beach.  Everybody climbed as high as they could.  Some went to the top of their rope and others a little lower, but the instructors were very impressed with the children's behaviour and their perseverance!

We dashed from tree climbing straight to Cowes where we did our raft building.  There were 5 teams- I know you'll all be pleased to know that the teachers' raft was far superior to the children's efforts and with our turbo paddling we won by absolutely miles!

We got back to the hotel at 6.15pm and tucked straight into a delicious roast dinner.  We then had a quick clear-up and Sue, our storyteller, arrived for our evening activity.  The children are currently listening to, joining in with and choosing endings to lots of fabulous stories.

We will update the photos each day if possible so please keep checking back!
