On Tuesday 3rd March 97 parents and teachers came to our school for an evening all about Stranger Danger.  The session was run by two policemen- John and John- who are part of the Police Online Investigation Team.  They explained about the very real dangers that children face online; they become accessible to strangers far more easily than most people realise.

They educated us about the websites and apps currently popular with 'strangers' wishing to initiate communication with children and what we can do to help our children if we feel their identity or safety have been compromised.  They explained about Exif data which is often automatically attached to photographs and which gives detailed location information about where the photo was taken.

Feedback from the evening was overwhelming and we cannot recommend attending a training session with John and John highly enough.

Some of the comments from parents were:

'Shocking- lots I didn't know.'

'Brilliant- I couldn't be more positive.'

'I thought I was internet savvy but I'm shocked.'

'Really made me think- incredibly valuable.'

'I now feel confident as a parent that I can guide and support my children inside this online world.'
